Hon Raila Odinga visit - THANK YOU!

Kenyans in Sydney and Melbourne recently had the pleasure and honour of being addressed by Hon Raila Odinga, member of the Kenyan parliament and presidential aspirant in the 2007 Kenyan general elections.

Hon Odinga was accompanied by his wife Ida (secretary of the League of Kenyan Womens Voters - a non-partisan NGO) and two MPs - Hon Sammy Weya (self-confessed new-school MP) and Hon Charles Owino (self-confessed old-school MP), who also addressed us on specific issues of interest to them.

AfricanOz have posted an excellent article summarizing Raila's talk in Sydney.

kenyansdownunder.com also have a story and some pictures on the event.

The Association would like to thank to Hon Raila, Mrs Odinga and Hon Weya and Owino for gracing us with their presence and taking the time to articulate their future vision for Kenya - this was most welcome - we would encourage other aspirants for '07 to do the same!

The biggest thanks of all go to you, Kenyans in Sydney (and Melbourne) who took the time to come and take part in these events. Just because we are far from home doesn't mean we don't matter - after all, if the vision we heard comes to fruition, one day we might even be able to vote in Kenyan elections!
